I purchased my Artemis OpenLog from digikey. Out of the box I repeated below a few times to make sure I wasn't crazy:

• I plugged into USB nothing happened.
• I pressed RST, nothing happened.
• I plugged in a lipo and the board woke up.

I updated the firmware and the issue was resolved, wakes from any power source when I press RST. The serial log said I was on version 2.4, and updated to v2.7.

Does digikey just have 2 year old inventory?

It's hard for us to tell the state of their stock, but I'd venture to say that your case shows that at least your unit (maybe more) of their units in stock are that old...usually this happens if the stock isn't rotated for FIFO

In summary: Yes, at least in this instance (but probably not for the majority of their current stock...likely a straggler unit)
